LeClaire library trustees approve updated job descriptions and authorize offer to top candidate

The LeClaire Community Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved updated job descriptions for the Circulation Manager and Youth Services Coordinator and authorized an employment offer to the hiring subcommittee’s top candidate.

At the March 10 meeting, Trustee Mandy Harvey moved to approve the updated Circulation Manager job description; Trustee Jim Earel seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Later, Earel moved to approve the updated Youth Services Coordinator job description; Harvey seconded, and that motion also passed unanimously.

The board’s hiring subcommittee, consisting of Jim Earel and President Calla Parochetti, reported that an interviewed applicant identified in the minutes as “Candidate K” emerged as the front-runner because of extensive library experience and prior strategic-planning work. The board voted to make an offer to Candidate K at the higher end of the established wage matrix after Parochetti confirms hiring procedures with City Hall. Jim Earel moved the hiring motion; Mandy Harvey seconded; the motion passed unanimously.

The meeting record also notes that Melita’s retirement became official Feb. 28 and that Callen DeWit is serving as interim library director during the search. The board did not record a final start date or salary figure for Candidate K; those details are pending the administrative confirmation called for in the motion.
