Atkins City Council on Aug. 13 approved an agreement with Teresa (Tomorrow’s Solutions) to provide financial consulting and stop-gap services to city administration. The contract covers monthly bank reconciliations, budget-to-actual reporting, state reporting support and training for newly hired staff.
Sandy explained the city needs interim financial capacity as it works to hire permanent staff and to complete outstanding audit and reporting tasks. Teresa described a typical engagement of about 10–20 hours a month, with occasional on-site visits, and said the contract is terminable on 30 days’ notice. Council members discussed an annual spending cap; the council approved the contract with a $25,000 annual cap and immediate start.
Councilors said the arrangement should help the city bring financial reports up to date, prepare for audit requirements, and train incoming staff so the city can transition the work in-house when appropriate. The motion passed by roll call; Teresa thanked the council and said she would begin work promptly.
