The Los Gatos Planning Commission on June 24 approved an application to demolish an existing single-family house and construct a new house at 16724 Cherco Drive, concluding the revised design meets town development standards.
Senior planner Erin Walters summarized that the applicant revised plans after an April continuance to address the town architect's recommendations on accent elements, rooflines and compatibility. Designer Terry Martin told commissioners the team met with immediate neighbors and revised the design to lower massing and remove a previously proposed vertical blade element; Martin said the changes addressed the architect's comments and complied with department requirements.
Commissioner Mayer moved to approve the project and to adopt the findings in the staff report; the motion included the required CEQA exemptions for new construction (Guidelines §15303). Commissioner Sordi seconded the motion. Commissioner Thomas recused himself from this item because he lives within 500 feet of the project. The motion carried 6-1.
Staff noted the normal appeal rights to the Town Council within 10 days for any interested person.
