The Village of Beecher on June 22 approved two public‑works equipment purchases and received an update on a water‑main project.
Public works requested and the board approved purchase of a BOSS stainless‑steel 9'2" plow from Lock Truck & Trailer for $11,843.07, funded from the public works escrow fund. Trustees also approved purchase and installation of a 2026 Moritz aluminum truck bed for $7,000, budgeted in the '27 equipment line. Both purchases were approved by motion and roll call.
Public works staff (Matt) reported the Miller Street water‑main project began with saw cutting and bore excavations; crews planned to begin pipe installation as soon as the next day. Staff said the roadway will remain open for the Fourth‑of‑July festival, with M & J Underground pausing activity during the festival dates. Staff cautioned weather could delay progress and said they will coordinate closures and public access if longer closures become necessary.
Trustees also noted that brush collection will not occur on Tuesday, June 30 to allow preparation for the Fourth‑of‑July festival; staff confirmed the splash pad and beer‑stand fence will be installed and fenced off before the carnival as part of festival preparations.
