Council OKs $4,500 contract amendment with EC COG to pursue FEMA debris funds

The Atkins City Council unanimously approved a contract amendment with EC COG to provide FEMA grant-administration support for debris removal, in an amount not to exceed $4,500.
Interim City Administrator Sandy Fowler explained EC COG (the regional council of governments) was already contracted to administer fire-station grant work and that the organization has existing access to the city's online FEMA and Department of Homeland Security accounts. Fowler said EC COG would therefore be efficient at supporting drawdowns for eligible debris-removal expenses. "This is the contract to have ECOT do that work on behalf of the city," she said.
Council members were told debris removal totals are approximately $520,000, with about $300,000 to $350,000 likely eligible for drawdown; the $4,500 amendment would be added to the debris removal amount and paid from eligible funds. The council moved and seconded the motion and approved it by roll call.
Staff did not indicate additional conditions attached to the amendment in the public discussion. The council recorded no dissent in the final roll call.
