Council approved sending two DPW staff members to the Michigan Rural Water Association Outdoor Expo (August 13, 2026) for continuing‑education credits; the trip is budgeted at about $350. The contract extension with HydroCorp for cross‑connection inspection and reporting was approved for 12 months with a 4% cost increase; staff said the fiscal impact for the extension is approximately $10,701.40 and plans to issue an RFQ next year for longer‑term services.
Finance Director Amy McEwen presented the final budget revision; council adopted the revision by roll call. Staff said the revision anticipates using about $254,400 from fund balance and expects near‑term local‑roads spending tied to a bridge engineering effort.
Council approved a third addendum to McEwen’s at‑will employment agreement, including a 1.5% salary increase and two additional vacation days (until 10 years of service). Council also adopted a social‑media policy defining official city accounts, comment moderation rules, FOIA and retention compliance, accessibility and First Amendment considerations.
Finally, council approved Amendment No. 2 to the Great Lakes Water Authority service contract, agreeing to adjusted lower max‑day and peak‑hour flow assumptions based on a nine‑year data review; staff said the amendment creates an opportunity for lower future charge increases though it does not itself set prices.
