Board approves tentative wage agreements with support staff and teachers pending ratification

Following a closed-session negotiation update, the Monroe School District Board voted in open session to approve base-wage agreements with the Monroe Association of Support Staff (MASS) and the Monroe Education Association (MEA), subject to ratification by each union’s membership.
The board moved and approved the MASS agreement (motion by Melissa, second by Mike) and then moved and approved the MEA agreement (motion by Mike, second by Nicole); both approvals were recorded as contingent on membership ratification. During the open session discussion, board members and administration expressed gratitude to staff and noted the negotiations represented an effort to balance fiscal constraints with recognition of employee contributions.
Each agreement was presented by the employee relations committee and will be finalized only after the respective membership votes. The board’s actions concluded the evening’s business and the meeting adjourned shortly thereafter.
