The ordinance would amend Chapter 20 of the municipal code to add a definition for smoke shops and to set conditions under which they may operate in C‑2 zoned areas.
The commission did not vote to adopt the ordinance at the meeting; instead, it scheduled a public hearing on July 14, 2026, to collect public testimony and consider final action. Interested residents will be able to attend in person or participate remotely via the borough’s Zoom webinar, as described by Manager McGill.
If the hearing proceeds, the commission will receive public comment, consider any recommended edits from the planning board and may vote on the ordinance at a later meeting.
