Simsbury committee names six Hometown Heroes, schedules June 8 ceremony

The Hometown Hero Selection Committee of Simsbury selected six recipients for the 2026 Hometown Hero awards and set the ceremony for June 8 at 5:00 PM on the Town Hall green.
The committee, meeting May 7, reached a consensus to name Lions Club of Simsbury; Christine Poler Fleming; Mike Long; Garance Herve-Mignucci; Simsbury Loan Locker Volunteers; and Dave Ryan as the 2026 Hometown Hero recipients. The decision was made by consensus rather than by formal roll-call vote.
Wendy Mackstutis, a member of the Hometown Hero Selection Committee, said the ceremony will take place on the green outside Town Hall at 5:00 PM on June 8, immediately before that evening's Board of Selectmen meeting, and that the Town Manager's Office will coordinate logistics.
The committee also amended the 2027 regular meeting schedule to have meetings begin at 5:00 PM. Later in the meeting, Amy Sheehan moved to adjourn at 5:49 PM; Jane McAlpine seconded. All were in favor and the motion passed.
