Simsbury selectmen approve permits, appointments and routine minutes; set hearing for Neighborhood Assistance Act application

At the May 11 meeting the Board of Selectmen approved a number of routine and administrative items.
Under presentations and the consent agenda the board reappointed Matthew Lidestri to the Technology Task Force and handled resignations and appointments for the Sustainability Committee and Culture, Parks and Recreation Commission. The board acknowledged the resignation of Timothy Walczak (effective retroactive to April 20, 2026) and appointed Trevor Brittell as a Regular Member of the Culture, Parks and Recreation Commission.
The Board approved Public Gathering Permits for the Farmington Valley Juneteenth Celebration and the St. Mary's Church Carnival after required documentation (signed application and certificate of insurance) was provided.
For a state program the Board scheduled a public hearing for the 2026 CT Neighborhood Assistance Act application submitted by New Horizons, Inc. for 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 8, 2026. The board also approved routine minutes for April 20 and April 23 and approved April 30 minutes with First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis recorded as abstaining.
These items were approved largely by unanimous consent and via the consent agenda; no additional policy actions resulted from these items during the meeting.
