The board authorized Town Manager Marc Nelson to execute and administratively amend documents related to a proposed Dial‑a‑Ride contract with Martell Transportation, LLC on May 11.
Nelson said the incumbent was the only bidder the town received after a rebid, and staff negotiated improved maintenance and service terms in exchange for limiting cost increases for regular and enhanced services. He thanked the Belden Trust for increasing its budget contribution to help defray the town’s costs. "I am happy with this deal right now, but if there is no competition in the future, we could look at doing this in‑house as well," Nelson said.
Deputy Town Manager Tom Fitzgerald said the town attorney reviewed the contract and the Board approved authorization so Nelson could sign the agreement before the incumbent contract expires June 30.
