The department representative described the curriculum and practical guidance the course will emphasize: minimum manager work hours (35 per week), technician‑to‑pharmacist ratios (2:1 normally; 3:1 for nationally certified technicians and higher ratios for flu season when advanced techs are involved), the need for current continuing‑education credits for managers and technicians, and strong recordkeeping and quality‑assurance protocols. Staff reiterated the requirement to report any missing controlled substances within 72 hours so that drug control can begin reconciliations and investigations.
"We strongly encourage first‑time managers to take these two hours of CE because it covers a lot more than I go over," the department representative said, summarizing the training’s practical focus. The chair noted the department will be able to amend modules as laws and regulations change.
Commissioner Guante added that managers should sign up for MedWatch notifications and described the anonymous Haven Health Program available for pharmacists facing impairment or burnout.
