Sparta Area School District reports steady open-enrollment flows and explains IEP review process

Mr. Russ said the district accepts the application, and Miss Null, staff member, reviews the student’s IEP and supporting documents to determine whether the district can accommodate identified needs; Miss Mullen and her team assist with the determination and final placement.
Board members also discussed whether the district tracks reasons families leave; Mr. Russ said the office collects survey information in many applications and that some families cite closer travel distance, district culture, or a preference for smaller schools. He advised the board that the formal open-enrollment window runs between February and April and that final counts are not certified until after the third Friday count date.
