Planning commission tables Half Price Books site plan for McKnight Road addition

The Ross Township Planning Commission on May 28 voted to table a site-plan application from Scheffler & Company, Inc., acting for PennBook LLC/Half Price Books, that would add a 393-square-foot addition to the existing building at 4808 McKnight Road in the C-1 zoning district (1st Ward).
Township Solicitor PJ Murray told the commission the applicant had submitted a waiver request the day of the meeting and that, under the township’s procedures, the request arrived too late to be placed on the agenda and could not be voted on that evening. Katrina Harmel, representing Scheffler & Company, agreed to table the application and to waive the township’s deemed-approval deadlines so the application could be considered at a later, properly noticed meeting.
The commission recorded no public comment on the item. After discussion, the Planning Commission recommended that Application SP-26-1 be tabled. Voting in favor were Commissioners James (Jim) Wigal, Bridget Watson-O’Brien, William Grady, Matthew Kruth, Eric Fullerton, Stanley Jankowski, Edward Nassan, Susan Hockenberry, and Michael Stephens; no members voted against the recommendation.
Next steps: The applicant is expected to resubmit or request placement of the waiver on a future agenda and to return to the commission at a subsequent meeting; because the applicant waived deemed-approval deadlines, the commission will have additional time to act. The minutes do not record the names of a motion mover or seconder for the approval vote on the minutes or for the tabling recommendation, nor do they provide a specific future hearing date for SP-26-1.
