Starr County Commissioners on June 22 rejected both bids submitted for a Precinct 2 drainage project after staff reported both proposals exceeded the project's allocated amount and the court approved rebidding the project.
During that portion of the meeting staff told commissioners the bids exceeded the allocation and recommended rebidding; the court voted to reject the bids and later approved a motion to rebid the project. Mr. So was asked to explain the situation on the record during the discussion.
Earlier in the meeting the court approved a vendor list and the claims presented by staff; both motions carried by voice vote. The court also approved a slate of budget amendments covering agenda items 19 through 30 (the clerk confirmed items were in order) and approved a separate budget correction under item 31.
Next steps: staff will rebid the Precinct 2 drainage project; no revised engineer's estimate, schedule or new bid deadline was provided on the record.
