Owner of Faucette Mill granted administrative COA for routine repairs
Summary
Staff reported that owner Andrew Wallace applied for a Certificate of Appropriateness to repair siding, foundation and timber framing at Faucette Mill; because the proposed work is routine repair under the guidelines, staff approved it administratively and the owner invited staff and the SHPO Restoration Branch head to participate in the project team.
Orange County staff reported that Andrew Wallace, owner of Faucette Mill, submitted a formal Certificate of Appropriateness application to repair siding, the foundation and structural timber framing. Staff told commissioners that the proposed work uses original materials and will match the existing beaded siding with cedar or cypress milled to match.
Staff said the proposed work qualifies as routine repair under the HPC design guidelines and approved the application administratively as a minor works approval. The owner invited staff and the head of the Restoration Branch at the State Historic Preservation Office to be part of the project team, and staff said they will monitor the repairs.
Because this was an administrative approval under the design guidelines, no commission motion was required beyond the report to the HPC.
