Board restores ticket‑manager supplemental role, citing cash-handling controls

Board members approved reinstating a supplemental 'ticket manager' role intended to centralize and secure event cash handling after administrators said the prior arrangement led to inconsistent deposit timing.
Administration explained the duties: prepare money boxes 90 minutes before home events that require tickets, coordinate with ticket takers, retrieve boxes at night, count with a second person present, and ensure deposits are taken to the bank within 24 hours (or by 10 a.m. Monday for Friday events). The business official said the role was previously in place for about eight years before being cut and was reintroduced during bargaining to improve controls and timeliness.
Board members questioned whether online ticket sales have reduced cash volume enough to absorb the duties into existing roles. Administration and the business official said audit and policy expectations—two-person counts and timely deposits—support having a dedicated person and that the first year will include time tracking to assess workload and stipend level.
A motion to approve the supplemental position passed on a recorded vote; the board asked staff to return after implementation with time tracking and a first-year assessment of whether duties remain necessary or could be absorbed into other roles.
