Board grants 6‑month extension for Bickley Hollow subdivision

The Hobart City Redevelopment Authority on Monday approved a six‑month extension for a proposed 67‑lot subdivision known as Bickley Hollow after a developer update and brief discussion.

At the meeting the petitioner said market conditions have begun improving, that he and his team have been working with Baker Tilly and that the group plans to buy the property outright rather than accept a deed arrangement previously discussed. The petitioner told the board his contractor and excavator are lined up and said he was prepared to move forward once financial and site preparations are complete.

Commissioner Marco Rodriguez, economic development, recommended a one‑year extension to allow for planning and coordination with the common council and other approvals, but the board settled on a six‑month extension. A motion to grant the six‑month extension was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.

The extension is procedural: it preserves the petitioner’s place in the approvals process while the developer finalizes funding and site work. The petitioner said he has presold homes in other markets and reiterated commitment to the project and to delivering what he characterized as a higher‑end product.
