Red Hook tree commission approves corrected minutes, confirms stipend and event planning

The Town of Red Hook Tree Preservation Commission opened routine business on Jan. 20 by approving minutes from its Nov. 18, 2025 meeting with a single correction to a typographical error. George (Hop) Michael moved to approve the minutes with the correction; Karen Cadorette seconded and the motion carried unanimously among members present.
Secretary Linda Keeling recorded a $500 stipend payment for "Kim" (last name not specified in the minutes); the commission noted Kim remains interested in the related project. Eleanor Friery confirmed she ordered books for the poster contest and will be reimbursed; Friery expressed a desire to hand the task to another volunteer and the chairman indicated she will assume the duty going forward.
Under new business the commission listed an Arbor Day celebration for Saturday, April 25 (the minutes record the year as 2025), and discussed marking its 20th anniversary per Tree City USA records. Commissioners also agreed to reach out earlier to local partners — the CAC, library, community center and Ozone — to encourage participation in Arbor Day activities.
The commission scheduled its next meeting for Feb. 17, 2026, at town hall at 7 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. following a motion from George (Hop) Michael and a second from Alisha Riepma-Hosier.
