Red Hook board approves $1.67 million plan to rehabilitate Water District No. 1 tank

The Town Board of Red Hook on Jan. 13 approved a plan to rehabilitate the standpipe at the Kelly Road water storage site serving Water District No. 1, setting an estimated maximum project cost of $1,672,600.
At the public hearing the board considered a Preliminary Engineering Report prepared by T&B Engineering and Landscape Architecture, P.C. and a related opinion of probable cost included in packet materials from Tighe & Bond. The board determined the project constitutes a Type II action under SEQRA and ordered that definite plans, specifications and a careful estimate be prepared and that town attorneys assist in preparing contract documents.
A written memorandum on file with the clerk from Hank Van Parys summarized the financial approach: the district’s reconstruction reserve held $459,000, of which $400,000 was proposed to be used for the tank rehabilitation, leaving a remainder in that reserve of about $59,000; a separate transmission reserve of $389,000 was noted as not to be used. The balance of the project would be financed pursuant to the Local Finance Law.
The resolution directs town staff and counsel to finalize plans and contracts and take the steps necessary to finance and implement the work. The board record does not include a roll-call vote tally in the packet; the resolution was presented and recorded as adopted.
