Planning Commission reviews Master Plan demographics chapter and discusses bicycle infrastructure

Planning consultant Tanya DeOliveira of Williams & Works presented a brief review of the draft Chapter 2 (Demographics) of Zeeland’s Master Plan on June 4. She responded to commissioner questions about the chapter’s content and measures used. Zoning Administrator Timothy Maday told commissioners he will provide additional local housing data for inclusion in future drafts.
Commissioner Daniel Klompmaker proposed the Commission begin conversations about developing and expanding bicycle infrastructure in Zeeland; commissioners expressed agreement and DeOliveira said she would assist with those discussions in upcoming drafts and meetings. Maday and consultant staff also plan a meeting with the SARB liaison Abby DeRoo to provide further local context for the consultant’s work.
No formal action was taken; the item remains a draft chapter to be revised with additional local data and forthcoming discussion.
