Lander promotes two officers; chief outlines FBI and US Marshals partnerships

The council acknowledged the promotion and swearing-in of two officers to sergeant and corporal ranks and heard an overview of interagency partnerships that staff say will improve investigative and tactical capacity.
Chief of Police (speaking at the June 16 meeting) introduced Corporal David Milovich — noting his training roles as a taser instructor, SFST instructor and Gracie survival-tactics instructor — and another officer, Casey, summarizing their years of service and community ties. Both officers were sworn in during the meeting.
Chief also described growing cooperation with the FBI and U.S. Marshals, including a reassigned FBI supervisor (Justin Kempf) and plans to authorize some Lander officers to task-force status that would expand investigative capabilities and provide overtime/expense coverage when officers are assigned to reservation-based or federal task forces. The chief said the partnerships bring access to federal investigative tools (tactical resources, computer-crime expertise) and valuable professional development for local officers.
The chief noted training exchanges with the U.S. Marshals and said several staff members attended marshal-hosted in-service training; he also previewed a planned community “end of summer” public-safety event on Aug. 15 in City Park intended to bring together multiple agencies for outreach and demonstrations.
Council thanked the officers and chief for the promotions and the department’s partnership-building efforts.
