Farmingdale officials report federal grant commitments as water‑tank replacement planning advances

Harty said evaluation of the existing ground tank’s roof and structure is complete and that next steps are being developed by village staff, John Mirando and consulting firm D&B. Officials recorded a grant commitment from Senator Schumer and Congressman Suozzi for "$1.0+ million" toward partial payment of a new ground tank and noted a separate $2 million grant application submitted through Congressman Suozzi’s office for site work, piping and demolition once the new tank is operational.
Water Department updates to the Board said Well 1‑3 is fully operational and that Plant 2 wells 2‑2 and 2‑3 will be in full operation for the pumping season. SCADA work with Eagle Control is nearing online status, with ongoing alarm adjustments and testing. The Holzmacher Group sent the AWQR 2025 to the Board of Health, and staff continue sampling and well maintenance.
Harty and staff said coordination with the South Farmingdale Water District is ongoing and that a grant‑funding timeline and site‑work budget will determine the next procurement steps. The Board did not take a formal vote on the project at the work session; specific contract amounts and timelines were not specified in the minutes.
