Fillmore County Board of Equalization approves property adjustments, accepts damaged-property claim

The Fillmore County Board of Equalization unanimously approved an over/under/omitted property listing and accepted a damaged-property report during its June 23, 2026 meeting in the Fillmore County Courthouse boardroom in Geneva.
County Assessor Melissa Houchin presented the over/under/omitted property listing; Member Mark Lightwine moved to approve the listing as presented and Member Kenny Harre seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all seven members—Jeff Neiman, Larry Cerny, Ralph Graham, Kenny Harre, Mark Lightwine, Merle Noel and Wade Sluka—voting aye and none voting nay.
Houchin also presented a Form 425 damaged-real-property report submitted relating to a bin site owned by Gene A. Anderson that was destroyed in a storm. Member Larry Cerny moved to approve the damaged-property report and Member Ralph Graham seconded. The board voted unanimously to accept the report.
The board opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m.; Chairman Jeff Neiman noted that the Pledge of Allegiance was recited and that a copy of the Open Meetings Act was available in the Board of Equalization room. The board approved the minutes of its June 9, 2026 meeting as presented.
With no further business, Member Wade Sluka moved and Member Ralph Graham seconded to adjourn. The board adjourned at 9:03 a.m. and scheduled its next meeting for July 14, 2026. County Clerk Amy Nelson certified the minutes as part of the official record.
