Maquoketa Tree Board approves rebid for spring removals, adjusts priority list

On April 13, 2026 the Maquoketa City Tree Board approved rebidding the spring 2026 tree removals after reporting no communication from the contractor Top Saw. Elaine Edwards, Tree Board member, and Ashley River, Tree Board member, moved to rebid the work and the board approved the motion.
The board adjusted the planned removal list: Tree #14 will be added back onto the list in place of Tree #9, which the minutes state is already gone; Tree #12 will be added; and Trees #18 through #23—located at Horseshoe Pond—were removed from the board’s removal list because the City will handle those removals. Members said rebidding is necessary because they had received no spring update from Top Saw.
Board members also agreed to move the next meeting to May 18 so members can review rebid responses before finalizing removals. The board recorded that the budget and expenses to date showed no changes.
Next steps: the board will review rebid submissions at the May 18 meeting and confirm which trees will be scheduled for removal.
