Stonecrest sets Nov. 3 special election, appoints county to administer and fixes qualifying dates

On June 22 the Stonecrest City Council approved a resolution establishing qualifying dates and fees for a special municipal election to fill an unexpired District 2 council seat. The council set candidate qualifying for Aug. 10–14, 2026 and approved the resolution to set qualifying dates and fees by a 4–0 vote.
Staff also presented an ordinance to appoint DeCap County to conduct the city's special election on Nov. 3, 2026, with a potential runoff on Dec. 1, 2026; the ordinance was read and scheduled for a second reading at the work session (first reading completed at this meeting). The city clerk confirmed the county conduct would be covered under the city's existing intergovernmental agreement and that the budget includes the cost of administering the election.
