Gladwin council ratifies police union contract after closed session

The Gladwin City Council ratified a contract with the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) on June 15 after meeting in closed session for labor negotiations.
Council convened in closed session at 5:39 p.m. under MCL 15.269(c) to discuss labor negotiations and returned to open session at 7:13 p.m. Upon returning, Council Member Darlington moved and Council Member Platt supported a motion to ratify the contract agreement for full- and part-time police officers, including a Memorandum of Understanding and a redlined memo concerning a part-time officer. Roll-call votes recorded all present voting aye.
Adam Walser, the Police Officers Association of Michigan representative in the audience, praised the process, saying the negotiation "took a while due to changing of representatives, but the whole process was flawless" and expressing appreciation for council support for police officers.
The council recorded no additional public disclosure of contract terms in the meeting transcript. The ratified agreement was described by the council as "codified in a writing and has been signed with the POAM."
