The Rangely Town Council on Jan. 28 approved several routine items including the unaudited preliminary December 2024 financial summary and a special-event permit for the Rangely Chamber of Commerce's Crab Crack.
Financial summary: The town presented an unaudited preliminary financial summary for December 2024. Staff said a transfer was made to water capital and that wastewater exceeded budget due to completion of a 'half-turn' project; officials called the numbers preliminary and subject to audit. A motion to approve the preliminary December 2024 financial summary was moved, seconded and carried.
Special-event permit: The council approved a special-event permit for the Rangely Chamber Crab Crack on Feb. 22, 2025, at CNCC. Organizers described a Hawaiian-luau theme, a cocktail hour and awards/auction; crab will be flown in from Seattle. The motion to approve the permit was made and seconded and the motion carried.
Other routine business: The council approved the Jan. 14, 2025 minutes earlier in the meeting and heard a public comment from resident Mel Palasio about community conversations online regarding nuclear energy; council members invited Palasio to submit information to staff for future discussion.
