Rangely council tables $200,000 Wolf Creek payment; reauthorizes town manager on Sagewood West housing and approves community permits

Councilor Tim moved to table the item; Andy Schaer seconded the motion, which passed by voice vote. The council approved Resolution 2024-6 (revised), reauthorizing Town Manager Lisa Pering to negotiate and execute documents on behalf of the town for the Sagewood West affordable housing project. The resolution, as described to the council, includes authority to negotiate capital-investment fees with the project recipient aimed at enabling construction on up to six additional lots. The motion to approve the resolution was made by Andy Schaer and seconded by Tim; the council voted in favor by voice vote.

The council approved a special-event permit for the Bleed Green Lancaster (sic) No. 17 Foundation to hold a cornhole tournament March 8, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the CNCC WISE Colorado Room. Organizer (identified in the meeting as Miss am Hawkins) said proceeds will go to Tristan Scott to help pay for a prosthetic and that other proceeds will support local youth sports. The permit was approved by motion and voice vote.
No final disbursement was made for the Wolf Creek item at the meeting; council members asked that project representatives provide an executive summary and clarify how the town’s $200,000 fits into the broader project timeline and economic projections. The meeting adjourned at about 7:43 p.m.
