The Kanab City Council on June 9 adopted the city’s 2026 fireworks restriction map that designates areas where discharge of fireworks is prohibited under Utah Code §15A-5-202.5. City Manager Kyler Ludwig said Fire Chief Brett Pierson completed his annual review and recommended continuing the existing restricted areas with a minor modification: removal of the block containing the new field area under development at Jacob Hamblin Park.
Councilmember Heaton moved to approve Ordinance 6-1-26 O designating restricted areas; Councilmember Corry seconded. The vote was 3–1 in favor (Councilmember Chamberlain voted no; Councilmember Banks absent) and the ordinance passed. Mr. Ludwig said the official map prepared and recommended by the Fire Chief will serve as the authoritative source for determining restricted areas during the 2026 season.
