The Madelia City Council handled a series of routine items and votes at its meeting, approving an agenda change, several permits and municipal contract actions.
Early in the meeting, the council approved the agenda with the removal of resolution 2026-07 and two additional items. The council then approved Resolution 2026-06, authorizing fire-relief offsite gambling permits for park-day fundraising.
On public-works spending, the council approved pay request number eight for the Center Avenue project in the amount of $39,849.05. Members then reviewed two seal bids for a street project: with a project budget of $100,000, Pearson Brothers submitted the low bid of $97,548.22 and Allied Blacktop bid $98,815.08. The council voted to accept the Pearson Brothers bid.
Councilors also approved reassignment of addresses following replats (addresses for 87 Grossway and 867 Girls Way) and separately approved assigning an address to 728 2nd Street Southwest. During the address item one speaker identified Matt as the seconder for the motion.
Other administrative items and announcements included noting that the next council meeting will be Tuesday, May 26 because of Memorial Day, a planning and zoning meeting on May 26 at 5:30 p.m. for a registered land survey approval on property owned by Bill and Shelly Jewell, and community-recreation announcements that the golf course open house and the campground opening are set for May 15.
All motions were carried by voice vote during the meeting; the council adjourned after a final motion to adjourn.
