Madelia City Council unanimously approves pay request, development agreement and multiple routine items

The Madelia City Council met May 11, 2026, and unanimously approved a package of routine items, including a $39,849.05 pay request for the Center Avenue Project and the Madelia Mobile Village Development Agreement.
Mayor Cody Eager presided over the meeting with council members Andy Gappa, Mark Slater, Matt Gunderson and Glen Christensen present. Councilmember Andy Gappa moved to approve the consent items with one deletion and two additions; Mark Slater seconded the motion and it carried with all five voting yes.
Among individual actions, the council approved Resolution 2026-06 granting the Madelia Fire Relief an off-site gambling permit; Glen Christensen moved the resolution and Andy Gappa seconded it. The council also approved Pay Request #8 to GM Contracting for $39,849.05 for the Center Avenue Project after a motion from Andy Gappa and a second from Matt Gunderson.
Councilmembers approved the Madelia Mobile Village Development Agreement on a motion by Andy Gappa, seconded by Glen Christensen. The council accepted a Pearson Bros. Inc. quote for $97,548.22 after a motion by Mark Slater and a second from Matt Gunderson.
The council enacted three address assignments: 875 Goves Way (parcel 17.582.0010) and 867 Goves Way (parcel 17.582.0020) were approved on a motion by Glen Christensen (seconded by Matt Gunderson). The address for 728 Second Street SW (parcel 17.579.0330) was approved on a motion by Andy Gappa and seconded by Mark Slater. All of those motions passed with unanimous recorded votes.
The meeting record includes a detailed check register totaling $685,789.34 covering multiple vendors, such as Bolton and Menk, GM Contracting, WW Goetsch Associates and Madelia Light & Power; the register was part of the consent items approved by the council.
With no further business, the council adjourned on a unanimous vote. The typed minutes were certified May 12, 2026, by City Administrator Chris Fischer. The city’s minutes state that video recordings available at the city website are the official record in case of discrepancy.
