Council received an informational update that the town will host a rally-car event July 18–20, 2025. Organizers have proposed modest route changes that could cause a small portion of the course to cross briefly into Utah before returning to Rio Blanco County.
The town manager said organizers have not finalized the route and that final details will be shared when available. Organizers also asked whether a military flyby could be requested; the manager said there is an application process for flyovers and that a C-130 has been discussed as a possibility. The manager cautioned that flybys have drawn criticism in the past when aircraft were too low.
Council members had no objection to the informational update; final route confirmation and any flyover approvals would follow normal permitting and federal authorization processes.
