The Hearne Board of Education approved a contract with Pitts Design and Build to act as construction manager at risk for the high‑school kitchen remodel, the board said at its June 22 special meeting.
Kelly explained the project is primarily to install a new exhaust system and replace the existing hood so modern kitchen equipment can be accommodated. The Pitts contract was described in the meeting as "$2,000 plus 4% of the project cost" and was presented as the partner contract to the previously approved JLG architect agreement.
A motion to approve the contract was moved and seconded; the board recorded a unanimous roll‑call vote in favor. The board noted the funding for the work is part of capital outlay certificates issued previously and that questions had been addressed by staff.
