Farmington public works reports water‑treatment repairs, digester restart and multiple pump‑station maintenance tasks

Public works presented an operations update at the Farmington Town Board meeting on June 9, outlining work at the water treatment plant and ongoing sewer and roadway support.

The town reported persistent clogging and binding issues at the north influent screen and that replacement parts have been ordered; a new yard hydrant and a new PLC and control panels were installed at treatment facilities to support algae removal and sludge pumping. The south influent screen will be removed and returned to the manufacturer for overhaul. The report said Digester Number 2 is ready to be brought back online.

The town is addressing pump tripping at Pump Stations 5 and 11 and has engaged contractor assistance and monitoring; a power monitor and data logger were installed after contractor follow‑up. A gate was installed at the Bark and Dune sewer access road and asphalt sealing work was completed at Victor and Farmington pump stations. Additional topsoil and seeding were completed at the Brickyard Tank, and work on a water main fill/flush at the Villager site on Loomis Road is underway.

Public works also noted collaboration with neighboring municipalities for bypass pumping during emergency repairs and plans to exercise valves and paint hydrants in the coming weeks; the town asked motorists to slow and move over when crews are working at the road shoulder.

The board recorded these operational matters as routine reports and included related capital and maintenance work in upcoming budgets and procurement planning.
