Beaufort board asks NCDOT to cut Front Street speed limit to 25 mph

Commissioners described walking conditions, a lack of sidewalks on parts of Front Street, and frequent fast-moving traffic. One commissioner said she had walked Front Street with a stroller and found 35 mph too fast for the pedestrian environment. The board voted unanimously to submit the request to NCDOT and agreed staff should place a formal resolution on the July 13 meeting consent agenda.
