Coralville — The Coralville City Council on April 14 adopted a series of resolutions and ordinances covering transit funding, a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application for 4th Avenue Place utilities, economic development assistance for Morrison Weighing Systems, zoning amendments and a one‑year temporary cell tower license.
The roll call recorded four ayes and one absent for motions, resolutions and ordinances unless otherwise noted. Among the adopted measures were the city’s FY 2027 Iowa Department of Transportation and Federal Transit Administration funding application, a CDBG water and sewer application for 4th Avenue Place (including approval of the local match), support for a High‑Quality Jobs Program agreement with Morrison Weighing Systems, and second consideration of zoning ordinances for Iowa River Power and Oakdale Research Park.
The council introduced and approved Resolution No. 2026‑43 authorizing the transit funding application; Resolutions Nos. 2026‑44 through 2026‑47 to file the CDBG application for 4th Avenue Place, approve the $260,628 local match, support submission and adopt required CDBG policies; and Resolution No. 2026‑48 approving Agreement 26‑HQJP‑011 for Morrison Weighing Systems. Ordinances 2026‑1005, 2026‑1006 and 2026‑1003 (zoning and water main tap/fee amendments) moved forward on second consideration.
Council also adopted Resolution No. 2026‑50 approving a one‑year license agreement to host a temporary cell tower to support MidAmerican Energy’s line relocation, and approved the consent calendar (items a–rr), which included routine vendor payments, license approvals and budget reports. The consent vote also accepted the February Treasurer’s Report showing total receipts of $6,741,973.57, including $141,998.42 in property tax receipts.
What’s next: Several matters now move to implementation steps noted in the adopted resolutions—staff will proceed with submitting the DOT and CDBG applications and finalizing agreements. The council set a public hearing for April 28 related to a separate state CDBG opportunity for owner‑occupied roof replacements.
