Polk County board signs audit engagement, approves $1.125 million in budget transfers

Polk County commissioners on June 17 approved three fiscal motions: authorizing the chairman to sign an engagement letter with Contryman Associates for the county’s 2024–2025 audit, and approving two budgeted transfers totaling $1,125,000.
Commissioner Boruch moved to authorize the chairman to sign the audit engagement letter; the motion was seconded by Chairman Jerry Westring and approved by roll call. Commissioner Boss then moved to transfer $1,100,000 from the County General Fund to the Road Fund as budgeted; Commissioner Boruch seconded and the board voted aye. Boss also moved to transfer $25,000 from the County General Fund to the Noxious Weed Fund as budgeted; that motion was seconded by Boruch and approved by roll call.
All three votes were recorded as affirmative by the three commissioners present. The audit engagement will proceed under the terms of the engagement letter, and the transfers will allow county accounting staff to allocate budgeted resources to the Road and Weed funds.
