Council greenlights Dixie well contract, boat-harbor dock grant and Steel Days management agreement

Contract award — Dixie well: The council awarded the Dixie well drilling project to Hydro Resources Rocky Mountain Inc., the low responsive bidder, in the amount of $2,327,733 and approved a construction and engineering contingency of $200,000 to be held by the city. Councilmember John moved the award; the motion passed with a roll-call vote in favor.
Grant — boat-harbor docks: Council approved a cooperative agreement with the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife Resources, to accept grant funding for replacement of docks at the American Fork Boat Harbor. Staff said the grant plus local park funds will cover replacement of existing docks and permit repurposing older docks for kayaks, paddleboards and swimming access.
Events — Steel Days: Council approved a management agreement with the American Fork Chamber of Commerce for the Steel Days celebration; the motion included a modification requiring the Chamber to submit an event report by the end of October and directing the council to consider renewal at the first December council meeting each year. Councilmembers said annual review gives time for post-event reporting and allows any changes before the next season.
Next steps: staff will execute the Dixie well contract and manage procurement and construction oversight; the boat-harbor project will proceed with state grant funds and park funds as specified; the Chamber will provide the October report and the council will review the agreement at the December meeting for annual renewal.
