Finance roundup: commission approves consent agenda; committee forwards budget amendments, traffic-safety grant and Tri-State payoff

Key items in the packet included: allocation of opioid-abatement funds to local service providers (Foundation House Ministries, Willowbend Farms, Cleveland Emergency Shelter, Bradley Prevention Coalition, and others); a $303,234.81 movement from Tri-State fund balance to pay off debt for the Tri-State Exhibition Center; and a $57,525 traffic-safety grant for the Sheriff's Office with detailed line-item allocations for deputies, social security, state retirement, travel and law-enforcement equipment.
The consent packet also included several departmental budget reclassifications and revenue reassignments the Finance Committee recommended for approval. Invoices and supporting documents attached to the meeting packet included insurance-deductible billings for a jail-related matter ($4,577) and an EMS deductible ($292.50). Separately, correspondence in the materials shows an EEOC notice (charge no. 494-2025-00083) and counsel correspondence reporting the EEOC issued a Right-to-Sue letter but that no litigation was filed as of the attorney's review; county counsel was copied on that correspondence.
The Finance Committee recorded votes on its recommendations at its Dec. 1 meeting and forwarded the items to the full commission, which approved the consent agenda and the attached amendments at the Dec. 15 session.
