River Ridge counsel outlines competing claims on Corkscrew Road; drainage project to begin in weeks

District Counsel Tony Pires told the River Ridge Community Development District board on Nov. 19 that his view on ownership of Corkscrew Road (west of U.S. 41) had not changed after retrieving additional documents. Pires and District Engineer Charlie Krebs summarized the County's and Village's differing positions on ownership and maintenance responsibilities based on prior memoranda and records; the board noted PSGRC held town-hall discussions focused on the intersection of U.S. 41 and the east side of Corkscrew Road and that the study will include the west side as well.
Mr. Wilhems confirmed the study will include the west side of Corkscrew Road; the transcript does not record his organizational affiliation. Counsel said he will forward contact information for a sign vendor (Apple Signs) to management. The board did not take formal action on ownership at this meeting.
Krebs also presented a revised scope of work for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and stated the plan will allow operational changes while retaining the original intent; MRI (the engineer/contractor referenced in the minutes) expects work to begin within two to three weeks. Krebs said ancillary irrigation costs were identified and brought forward for approval. Staff said a sidewalk inspection report is being finalized and will be presented at the January meeting along with repair estimates.
