River Ridge board approves irrigation repairs and replaces landscape contractor

The River Ridge Community Development District Board unanimously approved a not-to-exceed $15,000 change order for irrigation repairs associated with the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and authorized terminating the Landscape Service Agreement with Laz’s Lawn Service, Inc., to engage GulfScapes Landscape Maintenance Services at a proposed cost of $58,500.
District Engineer Charlie Krebs presented a revised scope for the Seaside & Master Drainage Project and said work by MRI is expected to start within two to three weeks. Krebs noted ancillary costs from Irrigation Concepts: $4,002.50 to repair damaged wiring and about $1,300 each to raise roughly seven to eight irrigation heads; the board approved a change order to address these items with a not-to-exceed value of $15,000. Kurt Blumenthal moved to approve the change order; Bob Schultz seconded the motion and it passed with all supervisors voting in favor.
Separately, staff recommended terminating the district's landscape-services contract with Laz’s Lawn Service because of poor performance and engaging GulfScapes. GulfScapes submitted a proposal of $58,500, approximately $13,000 above the $45,000 budgeted amount. Staff said unassigned funds could be used to cover the difference and that payments withheld from Laz’s Lawn Service could offset plant-replacement costs. The board unanimously authorized termination of Laz’s and immediate engagement of GulfScapes.
The board directed staff to finalize work authorizations and forward agreements for execution and to present final cost reconciliation and any required budget adjustments at a future meeting.
