The San Benito Geological Hazard Abatement District (GAD), which covers the Ridgemark residential area, adopted its FY 2026‑27 budget during the June 23 meeting. GAD manager Haley Rston (NGO) presented the budget, describing a proposed assessment limit of $1,577.76 per parcel (90 residences) adjusted annually by the December CPI; that assessment yields roughly $141,998 in assessment revenue plus an estimated $9,900 in investment income, for total projected revenue around $152,000.
The proposed expenditures total approximately $134,000, focused on preventative maintenance (drainage, ditch cleaning, detention basin maintenance), vegetation management for fire suppression, GAD manager and administrative services, and limited special projects (GIS portal and website maintenance). The GAD maintains a separate treasurer and bank account; the proposed budget would leave an estimated increase to the GAD reserve of about $18,000 at year end.
Board members asked for clarification on revenue calculations, reserves and whether the GAD has sufficient funds for major unforeseen repairs. Rston said the GAD is still relatively young with a small unit count and that staff plan to bring an investment policy and continued reserve planning to future GAD meetings. The board adopted the budget by roll call vote 4–0.
Next steps: GAD staff will return with recommended reserve/investment policies and continue community outreach to explain GAD roles and funding to residents.
