Corfu historian asks Pembroke to back $70,000 Heart & Soul community planning grant

Carrie McMullen, Village of Corfu historian, presented the Corfu Community Heart & Soul Initiative to the Pembroke Town Board and asked the board to adopt a resolution of support as the project moves from initial planning into community outreach. "My name is Carrie McMullen & I am here behalf of Corfu’s Community Heart & Soul Initiative," she said, and explained the program’s four phases: Imagine, Connect, Plan and Act.
McMullen told the board that trustee Ken Lauer submitted a successful grant application to the Heart & Soul foundation and that Corfu was awarded seed funding in February. She said the award is for an amount "just over $70,000," and that a volunteer committee has met repeatedly and is preparing for the Connection phase—gathering resident stories and building statements that will guide planning and local goals. McMullen described partnerships with regional funders and organizations, including the Orton Family Foundation, Rochester Area Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Buffalo, and the Batavia Chamber of Commerce, and noted additional grant applications to the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation.
McMullen asked the Pembroke board for a resolution of support; the board requested that she provide a sample resolution for review and suggested they could consider passing it at the next meeting. The minutes record no vote on a resolution at this meeting.
