The Dawes County Board of Commissioners approved a $1,500 promotional grant Sept. 9 for the Grey Eagle Warrior Challenge scheduled Sept. 27, 2025, and received the county tourism annual report.
Tourism Director Kerri Rempp told the Board that $51,000 was spent on advertising in the 2024–25 fiscal year, and that June lodging-tax collections were $32,533.77. She said overall the industry produced a roughly $26 million economic impact for the area and noted the county remains in the state’s top 20 for lodging-tax collections. The full tourism report is available on the Dawes County website and at the County Clerk’s Office during normal business hours.
The Board approved the promotional grant by roll call. Rempp also discussed grant-award amounts generally and fielded questions about staffing and program results.
Why it matters: Tourism-related advertising and events generate lodging and visitor spending that local governments track for budgeting and economic-development planning. The advertised grant supports a single event intended to attract visitors and spending to the county.
The Board did not modify the tourism budget at the meeting; commissioners approved the requested promotional grant.
