City staff says Highway 24 work on pace; KDOT controls schedule, hopes to finish by Harmony Days

Council members asked whether recent rain had slowed work; staff said the contractor can sequence around weather in many cases and that base rock and water‑management practices have kept progress moving. Staff also noted sidewalk widening, bulb‑outs and audible pedestrian signals are part of the project to improve safety downtown. No formal action was taken; staff said they will provide follow‑up updates and consider an additional public meeting if the subject or schedule changes.
