Residents raise VDOT mowing and water‑use concerns as county hears VDOT update

Craig Simpson, the new VDOT residency administrator for Louisa County, introduced himself and provided an update on road maintenance and construction projects affecting Fluvanna County. Board members used the presentation to point out several specific road issues they asked VDOT to correct.
During public comment, James von Ottenritter raised a concern that VDOT had mowed outside the public right of way without permission. Later in the meeting Ray Bassi commented on the Tenaska project’s water usage.
VDOT’s update was informational; no board action was taken at the meeting on either mowing practices or the Tenaska project. Board members directed staff to note the road issues for follow-up with VDOT.
