Dalton Select Board approves DPW hire, liquor license, sewer refund; reappointments proceed after votes

Sewer billing refund - Staff reported an incorrect usage value from the water district/fire department caused an overcharge; a customer was billed for roughly 400,000 gallons when the correct usage was about 100,000 gallons. The Select Board authorized a $1,462.78 rebate to Roberta Deuce of 633 Main Street to correct the computational error.
Reappointments and stipends - The board considered FY27 reappointments for staff, volunteers, contracts and stipends. Members moved to approve staff reappointments and then volunteers and contracts in sequence. A motion to withhold the stipend tied to the building commissioner/zoning enforcement officer (effectively not reappointing the building inspector) was made and seconded; after discussion and an abstention by one member (Genie), the motion failed and the slate of reappointments otherwise proceeded by voice votes.
