Engineer Eric Hough said the proposal will require several C‑1 variances; he said the maximum permitted height is 35 feet and the applicant is requesting a building height described in the transcript as "37+ feet." The engineer also confirmed the lot is undersized for the proposed use.
During public comment residents raised longstanding sewer problems in the neighborhood. Scott Mefford (122 High Street) related prior sewer issues and questioned how increased flow from the proposed development would be managed. Keith Worman (130 Carey Avenue) asked the board to consider whether an easement might be relevant. Pat McGowan (144 East Belleview Avenue) reiterated concerns about local sewer capacity.
After hearing from neighbors the board carried the matter to the July 16 meeting to allow further review of the requested variances and potential infrastructure impacts. No final vote or approvals were recorded on May 21.
