Prairie City Council unanimously approves Fire/EMS landscaping contract, a Public Works pay increase and hires utility billing clerk

The Prairie City Council met in a brief special session on Oct. 24, 2025, and by unanimous roll call approved three personnel and maintenance actions. Mayor Chad Alleger called the meeting to order at about 12:01 p.m.; the session lasted roughly 10 minutes and was held at City Hall and via Zoom.
The council accepted a $3,770 bid from Cole Landscaping to perform landscaping at the Fire/EMS building, to be paid from the city’s Fire Trust and EMS Trust funds. Council member Joe Disney moved to accept the bid and Derek Ingle seconded; the motion passed unanimously on a roll call vote.
In a separate motion, Council member Derek Ingle moved to increase the hourly pay for Public Works employee Dylan Cornelison by $2.00, with the raise to take effect on the date his required certifications are passed. Council member Beth James seconded, and the motion carried unanimously on roll call.
The council also voted to hire Jessica O’Riley as Utility Billing Clerk at a starting rate of $21 per hour and with one week of vacation. Ingle moved for the hire and James seconded; the council approved the hire unanimously on roll call.
The meeting concluded with a motion by Joe Disney to adjourn at 12:11 p.m., seconded by Beth James; the adjournment was approved unanimously.
